Creating With Intention, Not Exhaustion.

What does sustainable creativity actually look like?

Remember all my big plans from last month about publishing more and doing two video a month? What a wonderful plan I had. Here we are in February and I’ve already faltered on the video plan, well mostly.

I did manage to record 2 videos for the month of January, I actually made a 3rd technically when I got to borrow the Nikon ZR from Nikon Australia and put together a shoot I had as a concept and ended up shooting it all in one day. So, here we are in the middle of February with 3 videos sitting on hard drives waiting to be edited and published. How did we get here?

Long story short, time. I have started my new job (check the big one of the list from my 2026 plan post) and I'm making the commute into the Sydney CBD which takes quite a bit of time out of the week and by the time I get home, help put Bronte to bed and settle in after dinner I have about 6% battery left before I'm out like a light. Even writing this I can feel myself slipping into low power mode.

This is absolutely something I know I will get used to over time and it's very much about finding efficient ways to do the things I would like to accomplish this year. I think the lofty goal of making 2 videos a month if I am completely honest I think is well and truly out the window.

Looking at what I planned on doing vs what I think would be actually possible without going head first in to burn out is going to be a very different amount of things I actually deliver when I look back at the end of 2026. This does come back and align with the idea of creative intention though as it's not about making as many things as you can, it't about being intentional with what you create.

So, I guess all in all we can spin this in a positive light that I am still on the path and I am still creating with intention. The M10 comes with me everyday I head into the office, I am spoilt with some incredible views so I am sure more creativity will come as I get more settled in the new way of life.

Keep an eye out for when I do eventually publish those videos because I am really happy with a few of the things I have waiting on my hard drives.
